USAID and the Vietnam Low Emission Energy Program II (V-LEEP II)
In Vietnam, the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) through the Vietnam Low Emission Energy Program II (V-LEEP II) supports the promotion of Vietnam’s energy transition towards clean, sustainable energy, ensuring energy security and based on market principles.
The V-LEEP II program collaborates with the Government of Vietnam to mobilize investment from the private sector in implementing advanced energy systems such as rooftop solar and electric vehicles. Technical support activities include assisting in project design for clean energy developers and enhancing technical expertise for lenders to promote investment in clean energy.
Selex Motors is one of the projects supported by USAID in developing the electric vehicle ecosystem.
As one of the Vietnamese enterprises developing the smart electric motorcycle ecosystem with a convenient battery swapping station network, overcoming all barriers for consumers when choosing to switch to electric motorcycles, Selex Motors is evaluated by USAID as one of the promising projects in promoting Vietnam’s energy transition towards clean and sustainable direction.
During the reception, Mr. Nguyen Huu Phuoc Nguyen, the CEO of Selex Motors, proudly shared with the high-level leaders of USAID the story of building the optimal electric mobility ecosystem, the first of its kind in Southeast Asia. He introduced the battery production area and the assembly area with self-controlled, safe, and high-quality core technology. This helped the USAID leaders have a clearer vision of the promising future of the electric vehicle industry in Vietnam and the region.
The delegation representatives expressed their admiration for Selex Motors’ electric vehicle ecosystem products, especially the convenient battery swapping station solution.
The USAID representatives emphasized the importance of the Vietnam-United States partnership in addressing transnational challenges such as climate change, particularly the replacement of fuel-powered motorcycles with environmentally friendly electric vehicles, which significantly contributes to this goal.
Previously, Selex Motors has also welcomed special international guests such as the US Secretary of the Treasury, Janet Yellen, the DFC delegation, Samsung SDI, among others. It is evident that the continuous support and interest from both domestic and international parties towards Selex Motors are encouraging signs, reflecting that Selex’s path is on the right track. It vividly demonstrates the dynamism and acumen of the Vietnamese people in catching up with global trends, especially in the joint effort towards sustainable development and environmental friendliness.
